About Hugh

Hugh Bodmer – B.A., B.Ed., Realtor
Born and raised in southern Alberta, I am a small town specialist.  I spent my early years on my family’s cattle ranch in Bassano, riding the range, and playing pond hockey with my buddies.  Some of my fondest memories are of those frigid winter days of hockey!  That early experience of small town living has stayed with me through my entire life.  I have built my family and business in Big Sky country.

After a storied academic career at Mount Royal College, and then Simon Fraser University (BA, B Ed, B Ec Dev) I moved back to AB and began working with small towns, first as economic development coordinator for Carbon and several small communities, and went on to work for the Town of Olds.  I became involved in Real Estate in 1993 and have been putting my skills and community ties to work for my clients ever since.

I am a big believer in being an active part of the community and am involved in several charities and organizations, including Olds Grizzlys from 1989-2000, (Go Grizz Go!).  Since leaving the board, I have continued to serve the organization as a commentator for local games on OldsTV.net.  (LINK TO HUGHTUBE CHANNEL?) I have been involved in the local Kiwanis Club, serving as President from 2014-2016, and was a founding member of the Olds Institute.  The common thread here being that these organizations are deeply committed to capacity building and celebrating the best of small town living.
